Meet the Team
Learn more about the team at Blades of Milford Hair and Nail Studio!
Hi I’m Sheri Dumas,
I began my career in the beauty industry 25 years ago. I opened my first salon at the age of 19. I am a life long resident of Milford and have worked here my whole career, not only am I a stylist, but I’m also the owner of Blades. I have been very fortunate over the years to have the best employees and clientele around. Besides making people feel beautiful everyday I enjoy spending time with my husband and son.
I have been certified in several aspects of hair whether it is Wella, Davinese, and Lakme color lines to name a few or La Braziliana and Global Keratin straighteners and extensive cutting classes. We believe highly in education, we travel near and far to keep up with the latest trends to stay current and in the fore front of this ever changing industry.
We at Blades have very eclectic taste in products so we are not loyal to any particular line, well maybe a few but we have several pieces of other lines that we just have to carry. If you have a favorite line and we don’t carry it we will be happy to get it for you. We are always willing to try new lines as they are always coming out with great new products.
I really love what I do and do what I love and I hope that shows with every client that walks out my door.
Hi I’m Trish, I ‘m a life long resident of Milford and graduate of State Academy of Cosmetology. I joined Blades in 1998.
During my career I’ve worked hard at mastering the skill of cutting and styling. I’ve taken numerous classes in color, exploring many different color lines but concentrating on the two we carry, Wella and Davines.
With trends changing the way they do I’ve tried to stay current. For example I’ve earned certificates in keratin straightening and blow out as well as Wella amino fusion smoothing treatment.
I feel that education is the most important, so I take advantage when ever I can. Be it traveling to the Premiere Orlando Show in Florida or taking advantage of all the classes or product lines offer such as up styles, waxing and brow and lash tinting.
I do my very best to make each clients experience comfortable and relaxing while giving them the best service possible.
My name is Donna,
I was born and raised in West Haven Connecticut where I still live with my husband and two grown boys. After being a stay at home mom to raise my sons I decided to get into the beauty industry. I attended Galamore where I got my certificate as a nail technician. I’ve always loved doing nails and new I’d still have the flexibility to be there for my boys.
After eight years of doing nails I left to start a business with my husband, but missed that one on one time with my clients. So I joined the Blades team 6 years ago as a receptionist and nail technician.
I enjoy meeting and making people happy. While I wear many hats at Blades being a nail technician is the most rewarding.
My family is my whole world and we enjoy being together, but when I am not with them I am very fortunate to work at Blades. The clients and stylists treat you like family.
My name is Tanya Nelson. I grew up in Ansonia, CT and now live in Seymour, CT with my husband and dog. When not working I enjoy spending time with my family or just spending the sunny summer days on the beach relaxing.
I graduated from State Academy of Cosmetology in 1992 and started my career in New Haven, CT. I have worked in Milford for the past 19 years, 13 of those years have been at Blades.
I became a Master Technician for Creative Nail Design in 1996. I also belong to the Salon Executive Program which trains stylists with certain product lines along with the newest trends when it comes to color and cutting techniques. I have also been trained with Bio Ionics Smoothing System along with La-Brasiliana straightening System.
I continue to take as many in salon classes as I can along with attending The Premier Orlando Convention to keep up with my certificates. I will continue to do this so I can bring new ideas to my clients along with the inspiration and motivation for myself.
I’m Jessica Martanis, I was born in Milford and my family moved to upstate New York before middle school. I missed Milford so much I couldn’t wait to get back.
I’ve loved doing hair since I was a little girl. I’ve always done friends and families hair growing up. I’m very artistic, so I went to college for the arts, there I decided hair dressing was my chosen career path. I’ve been a stylist at Blades for eight years. I’ve always enjoyed every aspect of the industry from coloring to cutting to make-up and wax, especially up-dos’. Currently I am mastering the art of spray tanning. I feel to be successful you shouldn’t limit your abilities. I attend classes and shows often to stay current in this every changing profession.
Coming to work isn’t my job it’s my passion. When I see how people respond to my creativity it makes this profession all worth while. When I’m not working I enjoy playing softball, boating and spending time with my boyfriend, family and my dogs.
Hi I’m Chentelle Smolinsky,
A little about myself, and if you know my style it isn’t to brag about myself but to share with you and others of what really makes me happy, like gardening and spending time with my family. Being a hair stylist and colorist are not a job to me, they’re a passion and I love what I do.
I’ve been a stylist for 18 years. My first exploration was when I was in high school and my hairdresser needed a receptionist that was where it began. In 1993 I went to National Academy of Hairdressing and successfully completed the program. I began my career in Milford, CT. I’ve worked in 3 salons and presently been at my current location for 14 years.
I’ve participated in a Salon Executive program in which stylist through out Connecticut were elected to be the salon leader, being trained and educated with product lines, cutting, color techniques as well as marketing. I’ve been trained and certified with the Bio Ionic smoothing system as well as the La- Brasiliana straightening treatments. Currently I am using the Thermafuse F450 smoothing treatment. I love learning new techniques so I am always going to classes to keep up with latest trends. I never mind a question or opinion from a fellow stylist, it just makes more room for creativity.
I have successfully dabbled and mastered skills using several color lines such as Logics, Loreal Majereal, Wella Koleston Perfect, Lakme’ and currently Davines.
I feel that you can never know enough. Education constantly has a new twist, especially a way of reinventing styles of the past. So why not reinvent ourselves. Each time I meet a client and they are in front of my mirror, it’s a visit that is never alike the last. My goal from the moment we meet is to make them smile, and usually I succeed. So maybe we will meet up somewhere or somehow.
All the Best,
